Saw Lloyd live at Bogarts in Cinci, back during the "Don't Get Weird On Me, Babe" tour. He has to be the most polite person I've ever seen. Congenial, complimentary of the audience. Seemed like a real nice guy.

One day, I was in a record store, and I just happened to notice a Cassette tape (I didn't have a CD player then) of a very grungy looking guy with a big "x" across his picture. This resonated with me, because as a kid, I was always hearing things in churc

The first Lloyd Cole album I heard was X. I bought it 1990 just before my journey to Maroc. I remember an early morning lying in my hotel room in Quarzazate and listen to the songs on my walkman. The crystal clear guitars, this voice and the lyrics that c
ptured exactly my feelings at this time. I felt lovesick and at the same time free and happy.

The night after Thanksgiving, 1998, I was hanging out in Chicago with my friend Chris, lonely and depressed after an explosive Thanksgiving dinner with my parents. One of my Japanese roommates was having a film screening party down in Wicker Park for the

t to hear Chelsea Hotel live, what a treat! After the show everybody save my girl friend and I left. We decided to get a few more in the bar. We had been sitting at a table for about 10 minute when the man himself walks in and sits by himself at the bar
I said to my girlfriend that I was going over to say hi, she stayed in her seat. I walked over and simply said "Mr.Cole would you mind if I joined you for a while?" to which he replied "Not at all, I need someone to talk to." with that he pulled out
stool for me to sit. We chatted about being sick (we both were recovering from the Flu), football, his new music, why it has taken so long to release new material, Lloyd Cole.com, his family, and many other things that I can't remember (probably because
the beers started to cloud the night). We talked for over an hour before my girlfriend said time to go. He was very nice and thanked us both for the chat and said goodnight.
I had a smile on my face for 2 weeks. My brother was so jealous that he wouldn't return any emails for a few days.

got home from the concert, there was a letter from Sema in my mailbox. That sort of synchronicity cannot be ignored. I called her the next day, and everyday for the next two months. Finally, I flew out to New York to see her. She had crown from an incredi
ly cute 17 year old to an impossibly beautiful 26 year old woman. As I sat in her apartment falling in love with her, she put on some music. It was the Lloyd Cole cassette I had made for her 9 years earlier. We were married six months later.

My friend and I went to Oxford, England for a
college exchange program at OxPoly. (We
came from the University of R.I.) During that
fall trimester, we got into Lloyd Cole and the
Commotions. We both loved them right off.
Then to top it all, we got to see them perform.
What a great show! Later we started a band
(around 1989) and the singer was into Lloyd
Cole as well. We used to play originals, but
also do a couple of covers. Perfect Skin and
Charlotte Street were two of them! People
didn't really know what we were playing, but
we sure had fun! Between the two of us, we
have everything Lloyd Cole's done with the
exception of Love Story (I didn't even know
about it!).

I once was in England, and bought a cd as a souvenir for my girlfriend. The cd was filled with "acoustic" music, by artists as The Connells, Paul Weller, etc. Lloyd Cole was among them as well, with the song "Jennifer She Said". I really didn't know the g
y (I believe he isn't very famous in Holland) but I liked this song very much... but I liked his voice even more. I don't what attracts me in that voice, but sometimes it's a bit Bowie, sometimes it's a bit country & western.
A few months I bought "Love story" and it's one of my favorite cd's in my rather large collection. It's a cd I love listening to while reading the newspaper on Sunday morning, or driving in my car after a day of work. The sound and the production of the c
is very good, I think: nice, old-fashioned organs, piano's and guitars. No nonsense stuff like weird samples and shit: just good and beautiful songs, played and sung with the right feeling.
I write and sing songs myself, and with this album I always have the feeling that I wish I could make my own songs sound as good as these twelve Lloyd Cole-songs.

I was introduced to Lloyd via a long Wintery drive up the coast to San Francisco...it was '92, and my friend had the "X" album..."white" album, whatever you'd like to call it. We found out about "him" (Lloyd) from that god awful "Bad Influence" flick and
promptly laid out our $11.95 for a disc that would introduce us to "the man"...actually, the "other man"...the Moz being THE man...but I digress. Anyway, years later and I like his music more and more...though I'll admit it's most fitting on rainy night
...with someone to enlighten. That's about that, Lloyd's definitely and under-rated jewel in the sea of sub standard trash that we call modern music...nice to know I'm not the only one who loves his stuff....

I first was introduced to L.C. in the summer of '89. He and the commotions were playing in a small bar in detroit apparently just before the groups demise. He was fantastic and I really loved the music and the musicians. I regret not talking to him, as

I fell in love with the commotions music when I was 14. At 15 I went to see the "Easy Pieces" tour. Unfortunately I only got to see the warm up band because Lloyd was ill. Ten years later my wife and I saw Lloyd in Salt Lake and were able to hang out a
d drink a beer with him. He even signed my wifes belly and a T-shirt that still hangs in my studio. I am a songwriter too and my sound is definatley inflenced by his work.

After having met him briefly at one of the shows, I sort of got this "stand off-ish" vibe from him, but was in heaven nonetheless. This past year we had our first baby who I sing Lloyd Cole songs to (among others). I never imagined I'd be sharing this inf
with him, but there I was - before a show - telling him he's got a 7 month old fan. He said "Wow, that's the youngest I've heard". Later on in the show he looked down and asked if I could hold his notebook open so he could read the lyrics he'd jotted do
